Human Trafficking

 In Uncategorized

In our quest to support trauma survivors we are constantly looking for ways to make a difference. This month, we’re taking a closer look at human trafficking and how business owners can get involved in the fight against it. Human trafficking affects all of us, so raising awareness and promoting justice are key aspects in tackling this global problem.

We are committed to doing our part to seek justice for those affected by forced exploitation of all kinds including labor, domestic servitude, sexual exploitation, and forced marriage, to name a few. Here are some stunning global statistics:

• 19.9 million people are subject to forced labor in private or state-run companies, and criminal exploitation
• 1.4 million people experience domestic servitude in private homes
• 6.3 million people are in forced sexual exploitation (including 1.7 million children)
• 21.9 million people are in a non-consensual, forced marriage

By understanding the realities of forced labor, domestic servitude, sexual exploitation, and forced marriage, business owners can make informed decisions about how to prevent and address exploitation in their companies. Business owners can take social and ethical responsibility by considering a few simple steps to support those vulnerable in our society.

* Start by placing a message of awareness on mirrors, walls or other prominent places within your business as Budd Dairy in Columbus, OH did. They implemented a simple but effective way to let their patrons know that if something is ‘amiss’ – they have your back. They placed a photo that was prominently placed on every mirror in every bathroom and if you’re in Columbus – stop by: https://budddairyfoodhall.com

It’s also important to become familiar with the signs of modern slavery and human trafficking, so that you know how to spot them if necessary. For more information and specific guidance. Check out the Hope for Justice website (https://hopeforjustice.org/spot-the-signs/) for tools and resources on this subject.

* Finally, create an atmosphere where it’s safe to speak up should anyone be in danger or need help – letting customers and employees know that you have their back.

Justice is something we all need to work together on, and your business can make a difference in this fight. With just a few steps, you can help protect those vulnerable in our society. Let’s join hands and stand up against injustice!

At the Miracle Activation Center we support the human rights of every individual and are always looking for ways to donate service and monetary contributions. Is there an organization that you know needs help? Please let us know!
